Today we made rockets! 

Space Week!

We have been talking about Space in our room  - planets, stars, astronauts, space ships ... they love it all! This has been a really great theme for us to explore more non-fiction books. It is amazing how much the kids can pick up on just from looking at pictures!

Here is our Earth painting. The kids used shaving cream and paint to make these awesome paintings.

We read If I Were an Astronaut by: Eric Braun. We talked about all of the things that might be fun to do if you were an astronaut. Then we made our astronauts. We used clear plastic plates to look like helmets.

Dr. Seuss Week!

We did a lot of silly and exciting things during Dr. Seuss week :) 

Here are some highlights! 

We traced letters in sprinkles ...

And tried making new colors using crazy droppers! 

Penguin Waddling!

While learning about penguins, the kids used balls to help them waddling on the Penguin Path!

Who Stole the Reindeer?

This week we have been playing "Who Stole the Reindeer from Santa's Sleigh?" We sing it using the same rhythm and idea has "Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?"

One student goes out into the hallway while I hide the reindeer in another student's lap. Once we call the student back into the room, we all keep the beat on our knees while singing the song. The student from the hallway tells us who to sing about until they find the hiding reindeer!

The kids love it :)

Paw Print Hop

I missed a fun activity from Pet Week that I wanted to share!

 

The kids rolled the dice and hopped on the paw prints -

it was great from large motor control AND counting!
